The Neue Residenz, the main building of Salzburg Museum, is located in the centre of the old town and offers special views and insights into the unique cultural landscape of Salzburg.
The Neue Residenz has been undergoing complete renovation since November 2023. With expanded spaces for workshops and educational programmes in the ‘Studio Wissen’ (Knowledge Studio), various events in the future ‘Helene von Taussig Forum’, the new Belvedere Kunsthalle (art gallery), and a green oasis in the southern courtyard of the Neue Residenz, which will be open to the public starting in 2027, an extraordinary new cultural complex is being created in the heart of Salzburg’s World Heritage Site. In the future, Salzburg Museum and Belvedere Salzburg will cooperate in a manner unique across Europe.
